Type-2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is more than just a chronic condition; it significantly increases the risk of various cancers. For instance, research shows that individuals with T2DM have a 30% to 50% higher risk of developing certain cancers, such as breast and colon cancer. This compelling connection raises concerns, especially since cancer patients with diabetes often face more aggressive disease progression and worse outcomes.

In our recent publication in Nature Scientific Reports, we embarked on an important journey to enhance our understanding of SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for COVID-19.

The pathogenesis of the Omicron variant could be prevented if the deleterious and persistent unique immunosuppressive mutations can be targeted for vaccination or small-molecule inhibitor designing. Thus, our findings will help researchers to monitor and track the continuously evolving nature of SARS-CoV-2 strains, the associated genetic variants, and their implications for the development of effective control and prophylaxis strategies.
